| Most tropical paradises
are run by conservative non-Western governments who do not take kindly
to alternative sexual lifestyles. What I have noticed in my travels
is that there are so few tropical places that would be tolerant of a
healing centre where actual sex takes place.
Many tropical peoples in the world are much more conservative
than their climates would have us believe. It is a peculiar irony that
the colder countries of the North are where the people tend to be friskier,
kinkier and more tolerant of deviations from the sexual "norm".
It is the "frigid" Scandinavians who are having wild sex in
today's world. Whereas the people from steamy tropical Malaysia, Barbados,
Madacascar, or even Tahiti are all governed by sexually conservative
attitudes and political regimes.
And so after living, working (and playing!)
in 33 countries I discovered a great location for the future World
Art Erotica Museum:
Big Island, Hawaii.
One of the Paradise destinations of the Tantric community. Many leading
Tantric Sex Therapists call Maui their home. As well, there are many
on the island who choose polyamorous lifestyles.
In a way they are simply continuing a tradition. Before
the Christians came to give them guilt, clothing and sexual frustration,
the islands of Hawaii were the quintessential sensual Paradise. Scantily
clad natives living a life of love without necessarily being monogamous.
Many ancient Hawaiians had more than one lover. So the tradition is
now living on!!
What we would hope to do for visitors to the museum
is show them great erotic art and then also to list the tantric practitioners
and other sensual workers on the island. In other words, we would like
to act as a kind of information resource for sensuality on the island.
Ideally we would like the museum to be located on Front
Street, Lahaina. Front Street has more art galleries than almost any
other street in the Western Hemisphere so it would be a perfect place
to have a Museum of Erotic Art. In addition, Maui is the Honeymoon island
of the world and Front Street is where every couple simply has to take
a stroll when they are holidaying on Maui.
