WORLD ART EROTICA: A MUSEUM OF ART and LOVE
Toronto, Canada - August 2, 2007 - World Art Erotica is a virtual museum that promotes erotic art as part of our multicultural heritage. It is not wrong to portray images of intimacy. There is something liberating in seeing our ancestors making ecstatic love. It helps us feel less ashamed for having the same carnal desires. In doing so, perhaps we also become a little more tolerant of the different forms human sexuality can take.
Yet even today, many countries in the world suppress artistic expressions of sexual enjoyment. Ironically, some of the sexually conservative countries of today such as China and India were once the most progressive and enlightened in their attitudes and teachings towards human sexuality. India is a perfect example of this phenomenon. Still famous as the birthplace of the Kama Sutra and Tantric sexuality, India today is very different. Mr. M. Mustapha, director of World Art Erotica and, himself Indian origin notes, "One would be hard pressed to find a "modern" Indian, who makes love without guilt, shame or fear. Their sensual past has been forgotten."
As with real life museums there is an admission fee of US$6.95. However, unlike the one-time entrance fee of a physical museum, the World Art Erotica admission fee allows unlimited entry for one month. Then visitors may cancel or continue their membership as they wish.
World Art Erotica does have a large (and free!) preview section that showcases erotic art from Africa to India to classical Europe. As well, there are beautiful exhibits of lesbian and homosexual erotica from throughout the ages.
As part of its policy to promote positive images of culural and historical sexuality, World Art Erotica allows its members to freely download and save images from the gallery. Members can then use the images as they wish. For instance, they can decorate their personal or company website. They can e-mail an image to a friend. They can even print it out and frame it. One of our members wrote, "very few museums allow you to take copies of the art home with you as part of the admission price."
